  • Fostering Christian Discipleship in Our Kids March 5, 2026
I glanced over at my daughter sitting at the table next to mine. One of my college students raced by, pushing a delighted young child in a toy car. My daughter had made the deliberate choice to sit beside an older woman who had been sitting alone. She was the grandmother of the young child […]

The Sacred Heart of Jesus

Come and experience the love that never fades. Life is fragile—each day, souls leave this world, some through illness, some through hardship, and others after long years when their bodies finally wear down. The Psalms remind us of how brief our days are: “As for man, his days are like the grass; he blossoms like a flower in the field. A wind sweeps over it and it is gone; its place knows it no more” (Psalm 103:15-16). Yet in this fleeting existence, God calls each of us to something eternal—to His heart, burning with love.

From the beginning of time, God has been reaching out, revealing Himself, longing for us to reflect His heart and mind. This month, we turn our eyes to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a symbol of His unfailing mercy. Jesus conquered death, rising to new life and ascending to His Father. He sent us the Holy Spirit, offering wisdom and grace, but He does not force Himself upon us. He simply invites—gently, patiently—waiting for our hearts to say yes.

In the 17th century, Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, revealing His Sacred Heart—a heart crowned with flames of love, encircled by thorns, pierced in sacrifice, and calling all to mercy. He asked for devotion through prayerful reflection, receiving the Eucharist, and honoring Him on First Fridays. This devotion is not simply tradition—it is a personal invitation to encounter Christ’s love in a profound way.

The Church teaches that the Sacred Heart is Christ’s infinite love, longing for unity with each of us. “Learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart” (Matthew 11:29). Pope Pius XII, in his encyclical Haurietis Aquas, called the Sacred Heart “the wellspring of salvation”, urging us to open ourselves to His mercy.

What holds you back from seeking God? His heart is open to you. Jesus desires a deep, personal connection with you, just as He did when He prayed: “I do not pray for these only, but also for those who will believe in Me… that they may all be one, just as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You” (John 17:20-21). His love is faithful and relentless—He longs for you.

He calls you. He invites you. Jesus is waiting for you. Will you turn to Him? Will you allow His Sacred Heart to embrace you? Will you receive him in the Blessed Sacrament where he gives you his very life? Life is fleeting. Time is short. Do not wait—run to Him today. Let Christ fill your heart with His love.
